Hard mode allows horizontal, vertical and diagonal placements in both directions. It also fills empty cells with letters drawn from the word list, so a familiar cluster of letters may be a false lead. Begin by finding an unusual letter in a target word, then check each direction from that square before moving to the next possible starting point.

The larger grid suits confident readers who enjoy a slower puzzle, though difficulty depends on the words you choose as well as the settings. For a classroom extension, use vocabulary from a completed topic and let learners work together without a time limit. Keep the answer key out of view until needed, and reduce the grid or difficulty if the search becomes frustrating.

FAQ

What makes it hard?

Hard mode uses all eight directions, including backwards words, and filler letters drawn from the word list. This page also starts with a larger 20×20 grid.

Can I make the puzzle easier?

Yes. Choose Medium or Easy and a smaller grid before generating again. Easy uses only words running right and down.
